Zoom Webinar Vs Meeting
Zoom has been around for many years but its popularity spiked through the roof recently due to the social distancing restrictions because of the pandemic. Zoom has a variety of communication solutions and we’ll focus on Zoom Webinar vs Meeting in this article.
What is Zoom Meeting?
Zoom meeting is a very popular form of communication nowadays. It is used for personal or commercial purposes. All you need is an internet connection, a device with a webcam and microphone (such as a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone) and that’s it, Zoom has pretty much covered the rest for you to connect with your loved ones, colleagues or customers.
Zoom meeting is designed to achieve a completely virtual meeting experience where all the participants can turn on their microphones or cameras, and chat with each other publicly or privately. You can present via screen share, write on a virtual whiteboard or create polls. The host has the ability to turn off the participants’ video or audio (mute) if that is needed too.
So in a nutshell, if you are connecting a Zoom Meeting as a participant, you can turn on their video, talk to other participants, chat with them, share your screen etc if the host didn’t specifically turn off these functions for the meeting. Based on the type of subscription, Zoom meetings can host up to 1000 participants as mentioned on Zoom’s pricing page (Large Meeting).
What is Zoom Webinar?
Zoom Webinar, on the other hand, is designed for 1 to many communication where there is a few presenters (panelists) and a large number of participants (attendees). Basically, for the panelists, Zoom Webinar will be the same as Zoom Meeting, since all these video, audio, screen share features are made available for the panelists. If you are invited as a panelist for a Zoom Webinar, you can share your screen, turn your video on or off, mute yourself or chat with other panelists or even with other attendees based on how the host set up the webinar.
Functions for the attendees are limited or not made available. An attendee will not be able to use the video camera or microphone (unless the host specifically allows you), or share the screen. Basically, if you are just an attendee for a Zoom Webinar, you’ll be able to see and hear the presentation and the presenter’s video (if the presenter turned on the video), and you can chat with other attendees (if that feature is turned on by the host), and you can submit questions via Q&A function. Moreover, you can participate in the polls and surveys as well.
Subscription
Zoom Meeting can be used as a free member and you can choose higher tier subscriptions based on your need. If you have a paid Zoom Meeting Subscription, you can add on Zoom Webinar to host webinars. This sums up our tackle on the topic of zoom webinar vs meeting and we hope you have a good understanding.
Customization for Zoom
Zoom provides a complete end-to-end framework when it comes to virtual meetings or webinars. There are many things you can customize within Zoom itself. However, there are other things you might want to customize such as the look of Zoom Webinar Registration Landing Page, confirmation emails or how the Q&A or Polling is used. For example, you won’t be able to fully customize the way Zoom’s Default Webinar Registration Page looks.
